New Cream Shadow Sticks: Victoria Beckham, Laura Mercier and Hourglass

New Cream Shadow Sticks: Victoria Beckham, Laura Mercier and Hourglass

Maybe I'm just getting lazy or maybe it's because it's summer and I don't want to spend very long doing my makeup, but I really like to use products that are quick and convenient. It seems that a lot of other people feel the same way because brands are releasing shadow sticks and I couldn't resist buying some!

Victoria Beckham Beauty EyeWear Long Lasting Crease-Proof Eyeshadow Stick: I wanted to get the shade Pecan but it seems constantly out of stock. Instead, I bought Caramel (a shimmery bronze) and Bottle Green (a deep green, as the name suggests). Now when I say that these are budge proof, I mean it! I would really recommend applying to one eye at a time because they set so quickly. I have oily lids and watery eyes - not a great combo, but I can truly depend on these shadow sticks to stay in place - no mean feat! This brand is quite pricey but I've yet to find a dud product.

Photo taken on one of our rare dull days, so it doesn't to the colours justice, but is unedited.

Hourglass Voyeur Eyeshadow Stick: This is another brand that I find quite pricey but the quality of the products is excellent, especially the releases over the past 18 months or so. I bought two of these: Aurora (reminds me of Golden Olive pigment from MAC) and Solstice (a warm, golden bronze).  The formula of these is very creamy but once it sets, it doesn't budge. I've even worn them on these muggy days and they've lasted, which is quite the feat. I adore both shades as they really are my go-tos and suit my green eyes very well. I know that I'll use these up completely!

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick: I knew that I needed a matte shadow so I chose Cobblestone, which is a medium brown, which is slightly cool toned. I normally prefer warm tones on my eyes but sometime like the look of a cool tone as it can look quite polished. That said, I won't wear this alone (maybe in winter but it's too cool on its own for the summer months). Again, the quality of this shadow is excellent and I would advise applying to one eye at a time, rather than applying to both and then going in with a brush because by the time you get to the second eye, it will have set.

I love how quick and easy these are to use, but also how dependable they are because they don't budge and even though it's summer and quite muggy, there are days when I want to wear make up and they'd work perfectly in the evening too.

Do you like shadow sticks? Do you still stick to your usual makeup routine in the summer months or is it more pared back? I'd love to hear!
