YSL Touche Éclat High Cover Concealer - a miracle worker?

YSL Touche Éclat High Cover Concealer Review

I've been a massive fan of YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Illuminating Pen for years and have repurchased it repeatedly for around 19 years, so when I saw that they released a new High Cover Concealer, I had to buy it!  Some people mistake the original pen for a concealer, but it's designed to brighten rather than conceal. If your under eye area isn't too dark then the original pen might suffice but it definitely isn't enough for proper dark circles, but is the new concealer up to the job?

Housed in the same clicky pen style as the original Touche Éclat, the YSL High Cover Concealer has black accents so it's easily distinguishable if you have both products in your collection. The texture is incredibly lightweight, just like the Illuminating Pen, which I love as it literally feels weightless on the skin. Because of this, I was quite sceptical about how much coverage this product could offer.

This is one of the best concealers that I have ever used - fact! It gives full coverage without any of the thick texture or cakiness that I would usually associate with full coverage. I've often seen products being described as full coverage and natural and wondered how that could be, but this product ticks both of those boxes. I don't look like I have product on when I apply this concealer, yet my dark circles are banished. I've also used it on areas of redness too and it completely covered them. I'm quite astounded at the coverage, given that it is so light in texture. I don't have what I would describe as very black under eyes but I do have dark circles.  It doesn't settle into fine lines or crease - it's honestly amazing!

I have put some of the Iluminating Pen over it to brighten the area and it layers well but I think that if I buy a lighter shade of the High Cover Concealer, that alone would suffice as it would brighten and conceal.

I like to apply this concealer before applying any foundation as I find that I need less foundation by doing it in this way. If necessary, I can add more after applying my base, if I want to as it layers well. In terms of longevity, I would say that I need to top up at around the 8/9 hour mark but the beauty of this product is that it is easy to re-apply without any caking.  It's also the perfect size to pop in your handbag.

I honestly can't rave about this concealer enough! I know it's pretty pricey but YSL is a luxury brand and a little goes a long way with this product. My only gripe is that there is no clear panel on the side so I won't be able to tel when it's almost finished, until it's gone! If you're in the market for a new concealer and want it to offer full coverage, then I urge you to try this one!

Are you tempted to try this concealer? Are you a fan of the original? I'd love to hear!
