Spanx for the face #2: Clarins Extra Firming Phyto Serum

Clarins Extra Firming Phyto Serum REVIEW

Long term readers will remember my first spanx for your face post from almost 3 years ago! It was the first time that I used a product that felt like it instantly firmed, lifted and tightened the skin and I have repurchased that mask numerous times since then. Until a few months ago, I hadn't really used any other product that gave the same instant feeling (usually firming products only show results after a good number of weeks of consistent use), until Clarins Extra Firming Phyto Serum came into my life! I love it so much that it's actually rivalling my beloved Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, which is my most repurchased skincare product ever!

The serum feels quite lightweight and has a light gel texture that leaves the skin feeling a little tacky but it's not a problem as other products will be applied over it. Despite the slightly tacky feeling, it layers well with other products without any pilling.  It feels quite cooling on the skin and gives an instant tightening/lifting feel - not the tight feeling that you get from using a foaming cleanser or a product packed with alcohol. It just feels like the skin is lifted and refined.

It is packed with firming ingredients: Mitacarpus, Kangaroo Flower, White Lupine, Blue Agave and Quinoa. All of these ingredients aim to tighten and firm the skin whilst also reducing wrinkles. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which attracts up to 1000 times its weight in moisture, thereby plumping the skin to diminish the appearance of fine lines.

I like to apply it by pressing and patting into my skin rather than massaging in and my skin instantly feels lifted. I pay particular attention to the jaw area when pressing the serum in as this is the area that is most prone to sagging once you pass the age of 35! I also find that by pressing the product into the skin, it encourages some draining too, so my face is less puffy.

Most serums contain 30ml of product but there are 50ml in this bottle, so whilst it is expensive, it will last a good number of months and it can be used both morning and night.

If you are under the age of 35, certainly 30, you probably don't need to use a firming product but once you start to see any sign of skin slackening (the dreaded jowls!) or being less firm, then this serum would be a great addition to your skincare routine.

Does this sound like a product that would interest you? I'd love to hear!
