I have to say that October 2021 was probably the toughest of my life. So many things happened, that made it feel like a rollercoaster that I wanted to get off, but it just wouldn't stop! I'm not usually one to dwell negatively on things, but it was definitely an unexpectedly difficult month, but we made it through.  I don't have a lot of loves to share, but there are always some!

Beauty: There are a few stand out products that I've used a lot over the past month, including a gorgeous candle from Boy Smells, which is Italian Kush.  This isn't a seasonal scent, but I'm not a fan of pumpkin scented, or flavoured, anything! Instead, this transports me to Italy and makes me think of our honeymoon, with its blend of limoncello, pomelo (grapefruit), basil and pepper.  I don't particularly care if scents are seasonal, as long as they make me feel happy and God knows, I held on to anything that would make me happy this month!

I used A LOT of dry shampoo this month and I have to say that the new offering from Living Proof, which is their Perfect hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo, is absolutely brilliant from making hair feel and look fresh! It's another level up from their original, yet it doesn't leave the hair looking white or feeling like there's a lot of product in it.

I've been using Belif Aqua Bomb Overnight Lip Mask non-stop, because the medication that I was taking had my skin, hair, scalp, lips (basically everywhere), completely parched and dehydrated. This mask is rich and nourishing, and instantly soothes the lips. I use it at night only now, but when I was on meds, I used it during the day - practically every hour!

In my post about my sickbed purchases (here), I mentioned that. bought a set of Laura Mercier hand creams, so that I could try some of the other scents, as I usually stick to Almond Coconut products. I'm really enjoying the other scents and love them all, especially Ambre Vanille. I guess I just like the comfort of a warm scent at this time of year (which I know is in contrast to the candle, but I like fresh scents in the house, as I have the comfort of an open fire).

Finally, I've been enjoying using First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturiser* (Use the code Unique10 to save 10%). I've worn this as a primer, but also on no-makeup days, because it has a pearlescent glow to it, that lifts the complexion, without looking too fake. It contains coconut water, which is hydrating, and anti-oxidants, which protect and repair the skin. The only thing I would say is that if you have very porous or textured skin, it may not work for you, or you could use a pore-filling primer in those areas, and keep this on areas that you want to add some light to.

TV

Sex Education Series 3: (Netflix) We've watched this since the first series and it's good to see the development of the characters - people gaining confidence and feeling comfortable in their own skin. I love the dynamic between Maeve and Otis and the fact that it's still a case of will they/won't they. It's obvious how into each other they are, but there always seems to be obstacles in their way, so I'm already looking forward to series 4 for that storyline alone, not to mention Jean and what's in the letter!

Maid: (Netflix) This series is one that will stay with me for quite a while. It's based on the life of a woman, who is trying to leave an abusive relationship, with her young daughter. It gives a real insight into what poverty really is, how tough it is to get help, due to red tape, and the emotional toll it takes on the person who is leaving and wanting a better life. It shows the grim reality of counting every last cent and really makes you think about your own spending and how frivolous it can be at times. It also shows the tenacity and inner strength that a parent has when it comes to protecting their child and wanting a better life for them. It really is worth a watch, plus it's based on a book, written by the maid that the series is based on.

That's it for October. I'm really looking forward to a new month and hope it's a better one - not that things change just because the month does, but mentally, I will be glad to leave October behind.

How was your October? Any favourites you want to share? I'd love to hear!
