Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation - a new love!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation Review

It really is foundation season! I must admit that I've bought quite a few new foundations recently and overall, they have been a hit. One of the best of the new releases, for my dry skin, is Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation and I want to share my thoughts on it with you today.

There are 50 shades available in cool, warm and neutral undertones so I really think that everyone will be able to find a match. I bought the shade 305N, which leans a little warm and is comparable to Nars Sheer Glow in the shade Punjab or IT Cosmetics CC Cream in the shade Medium-Tan.  Housed in a glass bottle with a pump, the packaging is functional and sturdy. There is 30ml of product in the bottle and the price is £43, which is higher than I expected, although this brand has been steadily increasing the prices of its products over the last few years.

The description says that this foundation delivers long wearing, medium coverage that feels weightless and looks ultra-fresh. It also claims to be waterproof and give a luminous, natural finish. Basically, it reads as my perfect foundation! I love a luminous finish as I find that it's flattering and youthful, especially on dry skin but it isn't always easy to achieve. Some foundations that claim to be luminous are actually dewy and others are satin. For me, luminous means a radiant, 'lit from within' look, which is neither dewy nor satin.

In terms of texture, this foundation is a liquid but isn't watery however it feels lightweight on the skin. It works well with all methods of application but my favourite is to buff it into the skin with a brush and then finish with a beauty blender to ensure a seamless finish. It gives a solid medium coverage, which I personally love and it glides over pores and fine lines without any hint of exaggeration. The finish is, as the name suggests, luminous - not dewy or greasy but definitely gives the complexion a radiant look. I personally don't need to powder it but I have dry skin so those with combination or oily skin might like to. For me, the wear time is excellent. I have worn this on days out and in the evening on holiday when the temps were still in the high 20s and it literally didn't budge, cake or separate.  It is hugely impressive for a foundation to withstand humidity and stay in tact without a powder or setting spray, even on my dry skin.

This is pretty much my perfect foundation and it lives up to every claim - lightweight, offers medium coverage, has a luminous finish and is long-lasting. I am so happy with it especially after the disappointment of the Charlotte Tilbury foundation. I wholeheartedly recommend this foundation if you are in the market for a new one and have similar skin to mine with similar wants from a base product.  If you like Armani Luminous Silk, you will love this foundation - in fact, I'd even say that this one has the edge.
